Serving Delicious Indian Food to Torquay for Decades
The Bombay Express story began generations ago. Though the current restaurant’s doors opened in 1999, it was preceded by a long family history and local lineage.
Our catering journey started in 1983 when the Uddin family opened Ganges restaurant in Paignton, before continuing with the opening of the Kismot and Shimla restaurants a few years later.
However, difficulties caused by the recession of the early 1990s meant that the doors of all these restaurants sadly had to close — but the Uddins bounced back by reopening in new premises as Gandhi Takeaway, one of the first full delivery service Indian takeaways in Torbay.
This chapter marked the beginning of the involvement of our Head Chef and Restaurant Owner, Rehan Uddin, in his family’s business. Food is his lifelong passion, and his commitment to the family business began at a young age.
Now at the helm of Bombay Express, building on his parents’ legacy while embracing innovation and new ideas, Rehan is proud to be serving the wonderful Torbay community with fresh, authentic Indian cuisine.
